Would You Eat It With A Mouse?

A mouse! A mouse! We found a mouse in our work house. Ok. So I came to work today. Everything is normal. Well, semi normal. Jim (my boss) kept asking me to help him fill out Jaren's letters of recommendation paperwork. After that, everything was normal. I surfed blogs, worked on decorating our office, etc. And then there it was! Chris felt a mouse walk right by his foot. He called me over and I saw him. He was just the cutest, most well groomed mouse I had ever seen! We taunted it into a corner so we could get it into a trash can, but it ran right under my legs. (I admit - I screamed lightly.) It eventually ran out of our office. Not the end of the story. A few minutes later, someone was walking by our office and saw the mouse run back in. It ran out again. This time it ran into our neighbor's office. We informed them, and a few minutes later, three or four software programmers were working together to trap a mouse into the trash can. It was a funny sight :)

This is our "house mouse":

World of Warcraft: I do NOT play WoW

It happened. It was unexpected and I went kicking and screaming (well... probably more like pleading and refusing). But I did it. My family will make fun of me for life. My friends will probably never speak to me again (ok, so maybe not that dramatic).

I. Played. World of Warcraft.

So... maybe I'm not being over dramatic. I'm talking about "WoW". There are over 11.5 million monthly subscriptions to this game. Yeah, crazy. I swore to myself that I would never play it. Never. First, I'm not a gamer. Why would I play like the biggest gaming game ever known to man? Second, I watch Jaren play it. It's him - not me. But somehow he got me to design my own character (kind of like designing your own mii on the wii) and forced me to level up to 2. I chose to be a female blood elf. I chose the rogue because I liked the idea of being stealthy. Ok. I'm stopping there. I'm going to have to recite this in the mirror every morning before I start to sound like a gamer: I do not play WoW. I do not play WoW. I do not play WoW.

...so maybe it was a little fun... but I do NOT play WoW. I do NOT play WoW. I do NOT play WoW.

To Be Grateful

Today is Thanksgiving. A beautiful day. I love it.

I'm at work today because if you can't go home, what do you do? You make money.

Beauty is not always an adjective, but sometimes a characteristic. Beauty can be found in a very thankful person. May we all be thankful - may we all be beautiful.

This year, I am thankful for so many things. Here are just a few:

- I am thankful for consistency.
- I am thankful for time.
- I am thankful for a top rate education.
- I am thankful for the best job I could ever imagine having while in school.
- I am thankful for warm clothes during the winter and blankets for cuddling all year round.
- I am thankful for grapefruit juice.
- I am thankful for Jaren's generosity in letting me borrow his car.
- I am thankful for peace.
- I am thankful for my yellow shoes.
- I am thankful for my married friends, my engaged friends, and my single friends.
- I am thankful for movies, blockbuster, netflix and hulu.
- I am thankful for missionaries.
- I am thankful for silence and laughter.
- I am thankful for kisses and all five senses.
- I am thankful for foods.
- I am thankful for ice creams and hot chocolate.
- I am thankful for words and communication.
- I am thankful for blogs and good video games.
- I am thankful for my laptop.
- I am thankful for good music.
- I am thankful for confidence.
- I am thankful for my cell phone.
- I am thankful for roses in the road.

But mostly I am thankful for...
- Jaren.
- My family.
- And God.

Closing the Chapter: Scott's Gone

So it's official. This chapter is coming to a close. Scott's gone today. He and his wife Jen moved to Bakersfield, CA this morning.

It's kind of hard to imagine life in the basement without Scott's friendly face popping around the corner - "Guys?... Joel? Shjibby? Jordan?" I don't think I know anyone who calls Jaren 'Shjibby' more than Scott does. Scott also has this reputation for being picky about his friends. I was fully warned that it's an honor to even be acknowledged by him. I'm a lucky girl. Scott actually considers me his friend. He challenged me multiple times in his last weekend here to podium dreams (Mario Kart), which he won each time, but I was glad to play. I guess I just make him laugh because I look like a drunk driver (but they always tell me I'm getting better!). In our parting words I said that it was an honor to have met him and become friends with him and he reciprocated the honor.

(Joel, Jordan, Scott, Jaren)

So for Scott's farewell we went to Carrabas. I was once again surprised to be allowed to go out with the boys on Boys Night Out - especially on this last one with Scott. The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure that they almost expect it now. They've called it 'Boys Night Out + Elisabeth' on several occasions. What a lucky girl. But I still try not to self invite to their Boy Parties. Then again, who else is going to take their super fun pictures? Lawl. After dinner was more podium dreams. "One man's podium dream is another man's podium nightmare." - Joel

We're sure going to miss you Scott!

The Power of Truth

I hate lies. You're probably thinking, "OMG, who lied to you? What makes you say that?" But no, no one has lied to me recently. (What a relief!) It actually goes back to an episode from Heroes that we watched last week. There is this lady who can tell if anyone is lying to her. That would be the worst power ever! I base all of my relationships on trust. The thing that would hurt me most, probably more than anything else in the world, is if someone I loved lied to me. If I had that power, I would be able to tell if they did. I couldn't trust anyone. I would cry - like seriously, it could get you far in life, but I would cry. I looked back at all of my relationships and I realized that other than the last two, the most basic reason why we would brake up is because of lies. If you look at people who are getting divorced, one of the biggest factors in there are usually lies. Somewhere in there they start to tell each other small lies, then eventually it grows and grows until you find yourself telling them lies when it's not even necessary. Lying is deception. I hate them. I utterly despise them.

So on that happy note... it's Friday the 13th! Good things always happen to me on Friday the 13th. Like seriously, always good. So it's going to be a good day guys!
